I know nothing about politics,
But what is it with this war in Iraq?
A country that never attacked us, was not a threat to the rest of world, and did not have the means to pose such a threat.
And BANG! those guys are invaded, their leader toppled, our troops are in there murdering people, stirring up some shit, blowing the hell out of their country, lining their streets with our humvee-mounted artillery, and inevitably creating a responding wave of back-lash and further murders.
I read Colin Powell has admitted some of the intelligence used to justify the butchery was DELIBERATELY misleading. Is the reason people do not care when they see Iraqis surrounded by upturned burning cars rescuing their dead family simply because the people of Iraq look different to us? I think probably.
It's not even that far away from us.
Clearly there is another story, which anyone that is politically inclined will probably reveal has something do with our past relations with that region. But those that are more historically informed don't care either.
I know there are myriad other crimes against humanity occurring as we speak, but this one is so recent and decisive - and public - that it really hits you in the face. To think that such a thing could be perpetrated, not by some barbaric Viking warriors that wouldn't know morality if you showed it to them with an axe, but by present-day leaders from England and America.
The whole thing defies belief, frankly.
Also worth noting is that evil old Osama Bin Laden who killed more than two thousand people in the middle of New York is alive and well for the hanging of Saddam Hussein. (Forget those wooly rumours. They were so dubious even the press found them hard to repeat.)
